BALFIN Group Partners with French Fashion Giant KIABI to Expand Across the Balkans
The BALFIN Group has announced a strategic partnership with KIABI, a leading French fashion brand known for its affordable and high-quality clothing, as part of an ambitious plan to expand its retail footprint across the Balkans.
The agreement marks a major milestone for BALFIN, one of the region’s largest and most dynamic investment groups, as it brings KIABI’s globally recognized brand to Albania, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and Kosovo for the first time.
First Stop: Albania
The collaboration will kick off with the opening of KIABI’s first store in Albania, with additional locations to follow in key cities across the region. The move is designed to offer customers access to a wide range of family fashion — combining style, sustainability, and affordability under one roof.
“This agreement marks the beginning of an exciting journey,” said Julian Mane, Vice President of Retail at BALFIN Group.
“We’re confident that, together with KIABI, we’ll exceed expectations in every market we enter.”
KIABI: Affordable Fashion with a Sustainable Twist
Founded in 1978 in northern France, KIABI has become a go-to brand for families across the globe, with 640 points of contact in 33 countries and nearly €2.5 billion in annual sales. The company is part of the Association Familiale Mulliez — the powerhouse behind brands like Decathlon, Auchan, Leroy Merlin, and Oney.
KIABI’s mission is clear: make life easier for families by offering affordable, stylish, and sustainable clothing. Speaking on the partnership, François Haimez, International Leader at KIABI, said:
“Our concept of value-for-money, unbeatable style, and sustainable fashion has global appeal. We’re committed to adapting to every city and community we enter — urban or rural — and making a sustainable lifestyle accessible to all.”
More Than Fashion: A Boost for the Regional Economy
Beyond retail, the partnership aims to make a broader impact by creating over 400 new jobs across the region. The expansion comes at a time of growing demand for affordable family fashion in the Balkans — and seeks to address that need while driving local economic development.
KIABI also brings a strong sustainability agenda, focusing on low-impact materials, durable clothing, second-hand options, and community support initiatives via the Kiabi Foundation.
A Regional Vision with Global Standards
With a shared commitment to customer satisfaction, innovation, and responsible business, BALFIN and KIABI are poised to reshape the fashion landscape across Southeast Europe. Their joint vision: a retail experience that is modern, inclusive, and built for families.
