Albania’s agricultural exports are on the rise, showing consistent year-over-year growth.
Agriculture Anila Denaj announced that exports have increased by nearly 13% annually, with even stronger performance in EU markets.
Why it matters
The growth reflects Albania’s expanding role in global agriculture. Rising export numbers not only strengthen the economy but also encourage increased production — particularly in the fruit and vegetable sector.
Key Highlights
- Surging Numbers:In the first seven months of this year alone, agricultural exports jumped by 16.7%, including a 22% increase to the EU. Minister Denaj pointed to these figures as a strong signal to scale production — especially through greenhouse farming, backed by investment grants.
- Support for Farmers:The Ministry is promoting collaboration among farmers, offering subsidies to encourage the creation of Agricultural Cooperation Societies. Currently, 321 cooperatives are receiving support, aimed at boosting both efficiency and output.
- EU-Ready Quality Standards:Denaj emphasized that Albania’s agricultural investment scheme is aligned with international standards, ensuring exported products consistently meet EU quality requirements.
With growing demand and increasing alignment with EU standards, Albania’s agricultural sector is positioning itself as a serious player in the regional and European food markets.
