“I am sure we can reach a deal,” said Giorgia Meloni, Italy’s prime minister, after her recent visit to Donald Trump. The US president also made very positive comments.
Meloni was very optimistic overall about the possibilities for a solution and said she wanted to invite Trump to Italy with the aim of organizing a meeting with other European leaders. She called the US a ”reliable partner.”
The US president also seemed to appreciate his guest – he is seeking an agreement in the tariff dispute with the European Union, as reported by n-tv. He believes “100 percent” in a deal, Trump said during a joint appearance with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the White House.
Trump was certainly quite enthusiastic about Meloni: “She is a great prime minister. I think she’s doing a fantastic job in Italy. We are very proud of her.” The Italian prime minister is close to the US president but had criticized his proposals for EU countries. Among European leaders, she is considered one of Trump’s preferred contacts. After her return from Washington, Meloni plans to welcome US Vice President JD Vance in Rome on Friday.
