Two men shot dead – perpetrator still on the run

Deadly violence in the spa town of Bad Nauheim north of Frankfurt: Two men were shot dead. The police launched a major operation, and the perpetrator is still on the run.

According to initial findings, the shots were fired at around 5:40 p.m. on Am Deutergraben street, not far from the Usa-Wellenbad swimming pool. The police were alerted 20 minutes later by several emergency calls. Emergency services found the two victims with serious gunshot wounds in front of a residential building. Help came too late for both men – they succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

Crime scene cordoned off – SWAT team on the scene

The police cordoned off a large area around the three-story residential building in a neighborhood with several apartment buildings. Heavily armed officers, supported by the SWAT team, secured the area. A police helicopter was also deployed over the city until late into the night.

According to the police, there are currently concrete indications that a single perpetrator is on the run, although the involvement of other individuals cannot be ruled out. A spokeswoman emphasized that the investigation was in full swing.

“At this point in time, we cannot estimate whether and when an arrest will be made,” the police said late in the evening.

Investigators have not yet commented on the background to the crime, the identity of the victims, or possible motives. No information is currently available on the ages of the men killed.

Public urged to exercise caution

The police urged the public to stay away from the area and to report any suspicious observations immediately. They added that a danger to the general public could not be ruled out at this time.
